The situation in Kampala

online-prayer-meeting.jpg

It was great to see so many wonderful faces at our recent Global Prayer Meeting. We were honoured to be joined by Canon John (Diocesan Secretary) Rev. Herbert, Rev. Samuel (St Nicholas, Kalerwe), Rev. Moses (St Peter’s, Wandegeya) and Solome (Karis team) for an update from Kampala.

It is always so uplifting and powerful to join together in prayer despite the miles that separate us. Subscribe to our email newsletter to receive an invite to join us for the next one on Saturday 20th of March.

Covid-19

  • Rev. Herbert tells us Covid cases are decreasing and hospitals are no longer at capacity.

  • Preventive measures continue, such as the curfew, social distancing, sanitising, face masks outside the home, and reduced seating on public transport. Gatherings of up to 200 are permitted but many are wary of returning to church.

The election

The election process has been completed, but not everybody is happy with the outcome. Some supporters of the opposition candidate have disappeared.

Canon John asks that we pray for the situation, that their families may know of their whereabouts and that justice may prevail.

Schools

Schools returned on the 1st of March. Primary 6, Senior 3 and Senior 5 pupils joined those who started back last October (Primary 7, Senior 4 and Senior 6). All Karis pupils returning were given new shoes.

Though we still face numerous challenges, we give thanks to God for his provision and continue to trust Him as we journey through 2021. Praise God.
