Introducing the team: Ketrah Turyakira

Who are you and what do you do?

Hello, I am Ketrah Turyakira, Director of Karis Kids in Uganda. I have been the project leader since the charity first started. I lead the team, manage operations and give technical information on new strategies.

What attracted you to this project?

I used to work for Compassion. Strictly you had to help one child from one family. It was the uniqueness of the Karis model that first attracted me… reaching out to a family as an entity as opposed to individual children was quite exciting.

What’s a challenge you’re facing? How can we pray for you?

Managing over ambitiousness. Pray as the Spirit leads.

If someone from the UK visits, what Ugandan food must they try?

Grilled Tilapia whole fish with potato wedges. Then Jackfruit locally known as “fene.”

What do you think of the UK’s weather?

I think that your winter is terrible…I hope we are still friends!
