We have more reports from the Emergency Relief Appeal!
To briefly summarise, £13,700 was sent to support families struggling due to Covid restrictions. Funds went to basic needs as well as boosting small businesses. The families were deeply moved by your generosity and they work hard to ensure their businesses can thrive.

St John’s Kamwokya

A. used to work as a cleaner but during the lockdown she was let go. She asked Karis for financial support to start up her own business. With the money she started a clothes business for her community.
J. sells second-hand children’s clothes. However the long lockdown highly affected her business. She expressed her desire to revamp her offerings to Karis. With the funds, she refreshed her stock of clothes. Customers are slowly coming back to see the new range.
St Nicholas Kalerwe

M. runs a grocery and spices stand (see photo). Her daughter had been helping out while she could not attend school. The long lockdown had highly affected her spices business. She was awarded funds to boost her business.
B. is the breadwinner between her and her sisters. She makes and sells snacks as a way of boosting her income from her teaching job. However, a major challenge to production has been the lack of a mixer and with schools closed during lockdown, this was her only source of income. Karis supplied her with a mixer which she is using to boost her pastry business.
Karis awarded funds to E. to set up a charcoal business (see photo). There are already signs of it growing.
