Covid in Uganda
Here’s the current situation…
41,973 cases, 41,598 recovered, 342 deaths
385 active cases with 68 new cases (reported on the 3 May)
340,000 vaccinations administered
In Kampala, a curfew remains in place from 9pm to 5.30am along with 2m social distancing and wearing masks outside the home
Most children are back in school, with the remaining classes due to return next month
A phased vaccination programme has been underway in Uganda since March. However the uptake has been disappointing, mainly due to fear and mistrust. Less than 1 in 100 people have received their first dose of vaccine.
We give thanks that the Karis team and the clergy have received their first vaccination and pray all the Karis families will take the opportunity to be vaccinated when it is offered.
