Kampala Covid update

As we look forward to the further easing of restrictions in the UK, Uganda is in the grips of a second wave.

Starting today, a new 42 days lockdown has started. Schools are once again closed and there are restrictions on movement and work.

Over the last two weeks, cases have risen rapidly. Though there are more cases in the 20–40 year age range, it is the older adults, especially women, who are dying from Covid. Many of our carers fall into this at-risk category.

One positive consequence is we are hearing there has been more of a response to the vaccination programme, which previously was not getting much engagement. However, the situation is very serious.

Pray with us…

  • For God’s protection of our Karis families and team in Uganda

  • For the school-aged children affected

  • For the vaccination programme to be successful

  • For the end of Covid in Uganda

Let this Psalm be our prayer…

I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare
    and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers,
    and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.

— Psalm 91.2–6
