January Kampala update
There has been an increase in Covid cases in the last month due to Omicron, though the number of deaths remain low in comparison to the UK.
All adults (18+) are being encouraged to be vaccinated. Currently 4% of the population have received 2 doses and 28% only 1 dose.
There are still requirements to wear masks when outside of the home, socially distance and sanitise frequently.
From last Monday (10th January) Pre-primary, Primary & Secondary schools opened fully to all age groups. Vocational colleges and Universities opened last year, with some of the teaching online.
Public transport can now operate at 100% capacity. However, only vaccinated adults can travel on them.
The 7pm to 5.30am curfew has been lifted, apart from the ban on operating bodabodas (motorbike taxis), which remains in place for a further 2 weeks.
