Rachel‘s story

Rachel joined the Karis programme in 2010. She cared for three non-biological children as well as one of her own.

Twelve years later, the three eldest have all completed their education. Rachel was proactive in seeking to become self-supporting because she wanted to stand on her own feet. She had a dream which she shared with the Karis team and through hard work selling beads, she started to build a home for her family.

With the support of her linked family Rachel has been able to realise her dream and ‘Finish Well.’ She now has her own home away from the slums and earns an income to support her family by renting out rooms.
