Help tackle period poverty
The sexual health risks for girls growing up in the slums are huge: lack of sanitary products, social stigmas, lack of education about menstruation and sex, teenage pregnancies, as well as common infections.
Which is why we want to tackle period poverty and help the girls in Kampala. This has only been possible through extra fundraising.
Four years ago, The Andre Trust gave us a £5,000 towards this. Two years ago, Annie Peppiatt walked 100 miles to raise £1,770.
Those efforts helped us provide reusable sanitary pads, underwear, and soap for all the girls as well as a training seminar on hygiene for all the youth each year.
Milestone 1
This year, we need your help to raise at least £1,100 simply to provide the sanitary pads and the underwear for the girls.
Milestone 2*
If we can go above and beyond Milestone 1, the Karis team will also be able to host the annual hygiene seminar, inviting all the age-appropriate youth together for a morning of teaching on personal hygiene relevant to puberty.
We would love to give you the opportunity to contribute towards this. It makes such a practical difference to provide basic dignity in this way.

*We split this up into two milestones because, simply put, inflation has made everything more expensive. We already authorised funds for the pads and underwear to be purchased, as we do not wish any girl to go without. We prayerfully expect God will meet the need.
